All About Me
A NATURAL INSTRUCTOR
I've been teaching piano in the Washington, DC area since 2002. I am a member of the Music Teachers National Association, Maryland State Music Teachers Association and Montgomery County Music Teachers Association.
Playing piano is a passion for me, and it brings me joy to be able to share this passion with my students. Some of my students have gone on to study piano at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and the University of Maryland School of Music at College Park. They've gone on to be church musicians, public school music teachers and life learners. I offer lessons to beginning, intermediate and advanced students.
From day one, students learn important foundational techniques to help boost their skills and self-esteem. Each one has a unique learning style, and it’s my duty to find out what that is and adapt my lessons accordingly. Contact me today to learn how I can help you achieve your musical goals.
What I Offer
Success in learning frequently depends on finding the right piano instructor- someone who knows the subject well and understands how to inspire others. My teaching style focuses on skills training, but also emphasizes self-exploration and discovering a passion for something new. Take a look at what I offer.
BEGINNING, INTERMEDIATE
AND ADVANCED PIANO LESSONS
As a piano instructor in the DC area since 2002, I take students from where they are and provide them with the tools and guidance needed to help them excel. Take advantage of the vast professional experience I bring. Get in touch today to find out more and to reserve your lesson.
MUSIC THEORY
Music Theory is to music what grammar is to language. Theory helps students understand how a musical piece is put together. As students begin to comprehend the building blocks of a work, they begin to listen more actively.
EAR TRAINING
Music is a language. Literacy in any language is the ability to speak, read and write the language. Music theory and ear training enhance a student's ability to comprehend the score as they hear what they see.
All three of my sons took lessons with Mr. Cobbins for many years, and they loved him! His musicianship is unparalleled, and he truly strives to bring out the gifts of each student. I recommend him most highly!
